Low-profile double-data-rate (DDR) and second-generation DDR registered memory modules for blade servers and other space-constrained applications are now available in 512-Mbyte and 1-Gbyte capacities. Just 18.3 mm tall (0.72 in.), the modules permit the use of vertical rather than angled sockets, reducing the board's memory area by up to 62%. This allows more memory to be added to the server blades without enlarging the cards. It also improves the airflow for better cooling. The modules come in 400-, 533-, and 667-MHz speed grades. Samples of both modules are immediately available. Contact the company for current volume pricing.
