With 96 I/O channels that are freely configurable via software, the DS4004 HIL digital I/O board measures and generates digital I/O signals for hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations that test electronic control units (ECUs) for body electronics and other applications. The board includes signal conditioning for automotive applications and TTL levels. To support as many different types of applications as possible, the digital I/O channels can be used separately, as well as synchronized in 32-bit words. The automotive signal conditioning on the DS4004 HIL digital I/O board is a cost-efficient way to get started with using HIL simulation for body electronics ECUs; the only further necessity for a suitable configuration is one of the company’s processor boards. The board is suitable for typical automotive systems with electrical system voltages of 12 V, 24 V, 36 V, and 42 V, as well as for customary TTL levels. The 96 digital I/O channels of the DS4004 are arranged in three identical groups, each with two different voltage systems, ranging from 5 V to 60 V. Thus, for example, on one of the groups the customary 5-V supply voltage can be used for the sensors and the vehicle’s battery voltage. On the other two groups, tests can be performed independently from the first group at completely different voltages, for tests with a second electrical system voltage and also a switched battery voltage.
