Measuring 93 mm x 56 mm, this new LCD panel is touted as having the largest display area of its kind. The LM5575 module employs high-contrast FSTN technology to ease readability and can add a distinctive user interface to a wide range of different portable/handheld and fixed products, such as PDAs, games, point-of-sale equipment and instrumentation. A totally self-contained display module with an on-board single-chip display driver, the LM5575 also packs RAM and a dc/dc converter to achieve the necessary voltage supplies to drive the screen. The LCD panel is constructed using TAB construction, so the module presents an overall thickness of just 2 mm. With tab construction, the module can be plugged in directly to a ZIF connector, eliminating the more difficult hot bar solder operation. Further, the unit’s bigger display area does not mean an increased power demand, as the module is designed to operate with a typical current demand of 50 µA. Pricing starts at $26 each/1,000.
