DOC Reports On Counterfeit Electronics

The Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security Office of Technology Evaluation offers the results of a study entitled “Defense Industrial Base Assessment: Counterfeit Electronics.” The report reviews sources of counterfeit products, value ranges of counterfeit parts, methods of detection and reporting, and more. It culls data from a survey of 387 companies in different tiers of the electronics supply chain. Respondents included 83 organizations for competitive markets (OCMs), 98 parts distributors, 32 circuit-board assemblers, 121 prime contractors and sub-contractors, and 53 Department of Defense activities. Interested parties can download a copy of the 252-page report in PDF format at www.bis.doc.gov/defenseindustrialbaseprograms/osies/defmarketresearchrpts/final_counterfeit_electronics_report.pdf.
