The EECO-Green printed-circuit boards (PCBs) are double-sided PCBs that use silver-through-hole (STH) technology as opposed to conventional plated-through-hole designs. Top-to-bottom electrical connections are made by applying a silver conductive ink through the via holes, a process that the company claims reduces board costs by as much as 20% compared to traditional designs. This approach, it is also claimed, allows for the use of more economical board materials such as FR-1.
As the electronics industry moves away from the use of lead-based solders, the most significant feature of these PCBs is that they are completely lead free.
