The MPLAB starter kit for the dsPIC digital-signal controllers (part #DM330011) comes with development software and hardware including the USB-powered controller board with integrated debugger and programmer. These include the MPLAB IDE and MPLAB C30 C complier software and sample programs and hardware for demonstrating speech and audio applications. The board hosts a 40 MIPS dsPIC33FJ256GP506 DSC with 256 KB of flash program memory and 16 KB of RAM, a 12-bit ADC, and peripherals supporting audio PWM. Other board features include 4 Mb of serial flash memory to store audio messages, a 16-/24-/32-bit audio CODEC with sampling frequencies up to 48 kHz, 100-mW headphone amp, microphone and line level inputs, and a sample program for recording custom audio content.
