The MAX5915/MAX5916 are fully integrated dual hot-swap controllers for PCI 2.2 hot-plug slots. Many features of the devices reportedly simplify PCI 2.2 hot-swap design and reduce board space and overall system cost. The devices provide independent power controls for +3.3V, +5V, +12V, -12V, and +3.3V auxiliary supply rails for two PCI cards. Both devices employ a brick-wall and fold-back current-limit scheme to prevent false trips due to line/load transients and damage due to excessive over-current and short-circuit conditions. The MAX5915 provides latched fault management, while the MAX5916 provides auto-retry fault management. Prices start at $4.67 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
