The 8051-based, 40-MIPS, single-cycle VRS51L2xxx family incorporates digital signal processing (DSP) extensions, including multiplication and addition calculator (MAC) support and a 32-bit barrel shifter. It saves board space with an on-chip 40-MHz precision internal oscillator. The chip also has an SPI port, an I2C port, two UARTs with micro baud adjustment, up to 14 timers/counters, eight pulsewidth modulators, and two pulse-width counters. Pricing starts at less than $4 in volume quantities. ED ONLINE 12469
