Embedded CPU Board Packs VGA, LAN & Audio Features

Jan. 1, 2000

Ready for use in harsh, limited-space applications, the MSC-6540A is a full-featured embedded computer board that includes built-in audio, VGA display support, and Ethernet/Fast Ethernet controllers. The card supports CPUs with lower power consumption, including the Intel Pentium P54C/P55C with MMX technology, Cyrix’s M1/M2, AMD’s K5/K6-2/K6-3 and IDT’s C6/Winchip 2. And CPU clock rates can range from 100 MHz to 400 MHz.The board supports memory expansion up to 512 Mbytes with two 168-pin DIMM sockets and 512 kbytes of on-board cache for faster processing capabilities. It provides an on-board C&T 69000 VGA controller with 2 Mbytes of on-chip video memory for support of a broad range of CRTs and LCDs. Also on the board is a Realtec LAN chip for 10/100Base-T Ethernet. Audio support is full duplex with integrated 3D VBX stereo sound effects.
