The Si2400 ISOmodem is a two-chip set that integrates a microcontroller, DSP datapump, voice codec and Direct Access Arrangement (DAA). As a result, the devices are suited for data processing applications that require contact with a remote host, such as set-top boxes, point-of-sale terminals, security systems, power meters, pay phones, and vending machines. The chips also feature a globally programmable line interface and operation through modem AT commands. Thanks largely to their high level of integration, the chips are said to provide substantial savings in costs, power consumption and board space. The modem provides connect rates up to 2400 bps with full-duplex connections over the Public Switched Telephone Network with V.42 hardware support through HDLC framing. It also provides parallel phone detect, overcurrent protection, and caller-ID decoding for U.S., U.K. and Japanese formats.
