Mating the GT3200 physical layer (PHY) chip with ARC’s VUSB-HS soft IP core/device controller promises a complete USB solution, certified for high-speed operation by the USB Implementers Forum. The combo allows users to keep the analog function of the USB 2.0 PHY external and synthesize the IP core into the system on chip (SoC). The PHY supports both 8- and 16-bit USB 2.0 transceiver macrocell interface (UTMI) operation at speeds up to 480 Mb/s. Samples are available now and evaluation boards and applications are available upon request. For further information, contact STANDARD MICROSYSTEMS CORP., Hauppauge, NY. (631) 435-6000.
