Ideally suited for appliance, home security, and control applications, the 56F802 flash-based hybrid controller offers the performance of a DSP with the functionality of an MCU in a single chip. This device is engineered to enable designers to add DSP functionality to their current MCU control applications. The 56F802's integrated RAM and flash memory include 1K program RAM, 8K Program Flash, 1K Data RAM, 2K Data Flash, and 2K Boot Flash. Other features of the hybrid controller include: delivering 40 MIPS at 80 MHz; serial communications interface; up to four general purpose I/O; an integrated PLL with pre- and post-scalers; and a 5-Channel, 12-Bit ADC. The 56F802 is supported by the Metrowerks CodeWarrior integrated development environment toolset as well as the company's software development kit. The SDK includes target development boards, libraries, and algorithms developed for market-specific applications, such as home appliance, home security, motor control, and consumer applications.
