\[October 4, 2006\] Heralded as the industry’s first quad-channel parametric measurement unit, the AD5522 combines four independent channels in a 12 mm x 12 mm TQFP package. Each channel includes on-chip sense resistors for 5-µA, 20-µA, 200-µA, and 2-mA current ranges. An external range is also available on each channel, enabling designers to generate up to 64 mA with an external sense resistor, or higher currents with an external buffer. For greater flexibility, the PMU features a 22.5V span that is scaleable and offsettable. Twenty 16-bit DACs on the chip can be used for setting force, clamp, and comparator levels. All PMU functions are controlled via a serial SPI or LVDS interface. The AD5522 is sampling now in the 80-lead TQFP and is scheduled for release in April 2007. The AD5523, a similar device without the LVDS interface and external current range, is available in a smaller 64-lead, 9 mm x 9 mm LFCSP. The AD5522 costs $39 each/5,000 and the AD5523, $31.
