In comparison to similar products on the market, this new line of guide rails for Gigabit Interface Converters (GBICs) claims lower levels of electromagnetic interference (EMI), an improved EMI shield door spring design, and easier alignment of the rails over the pc board during the assembly process. The improved EMI performance is due to a special compliant gasket clip that ensures continuity in grounding the guide rail system to the bezel aperture, even if there is a slight misalignment. The GBIC guide rail system also uses a unique torsion spring design that is said to eliminate any possibility of the spring coming off when the shield door is opened. The system also features a revised latch-and-pin system that makes alignment of the rails over the pc board much easier. The rails come in three different versions to accommodate different board thicknesses.
