A family of Multi-Service Processors, the MSP2015/2020/4000/5000 are integrated devices intended to reduce the cost of Voice-Over-Internet Protocol (VOIP) enabled broadband customer premises equipment (CPE). The processors use a 32-Bit MIPS architecture microprocessor core and up to two dual-MAC DSP cores. The processors integrate both the routing function and the VOIP CODEC into a single device, providing the necessary performance to handle both voice channels and high-speed data connections. A field-proven, voice-processing software suite provides end-to-end latency, packet-loss tolerance and robust echo cancellation. It also provides support for advanced call features such as 4-way conferencing, fax relay and intelligent signal classification. Software development kits are available to support VxWorks, Linux or proprietary operating systems. A support package includes an evaluation/development platform, software development kit, board layout and design documentation, and application notes. PMC-SIERRA INC., Santa Clara, CA.
