Designed to meet the demand for smaller components that also pack added functionality, this RC network integrates four resistors and four capacitors in a 10-pin, 1608 surface-mount package. The device takes up less board space than networks based on discrete resistors and capacitors. The new RC networks are said to be small enough to be placed beneath an IC, allowing further savings in board space and improvements in reliability since interconnections are then much shorter in length.Designed with concave terminations, the components feature two ground pins diametrically opposite each other on the package, simplifying placement on the pc board. The networks are available in resistances from 10 ohms to 1 kiloohm and in capacitances from 10 pF to 180 pF and are targeted at filtering networks on I/O ports, ac terminations, and matching networks in universal serial bus (USB) applications.
