An A/D conversion capability coupled with reconfigurable FPGA and a large sample buffer enable the Barracuda-PMC+ analog input card to capture data for two 14-bit, 105-MHz A/D channels and to stream the digitized signals to the Virtex-II FPGA. Up to 256 Msamples can be buffered in a bank of up to 512 MB of SDRAM or streamed out via the SHARC link ports on the PMC+ interface. The FPGA may also be used for configurable preprocessing of A/D data via third-party IP cores. And when used with one of the company’s Tiger baseboards, the I/O card can continuously stream data out at up to 420 MB/s via the PMC+ link ports. In addition, an on-board SharcFIN ASIC provides a 64/66 PCI interface, as well as a controller for interfacing the SDRAM and Virtex-II to the PCI host. Price of the Barracuda-PMC+ card is $1,995 each in OEM quantities. Software development tools are also available. BITTWARE INC., Concord, NH. (603) 226-0404.
