The STM3210B-MCKIT debuts as a complete three-phase motor-control development kit based on the STM32 flash microcontroller (MCU), which provides all the necessary hardware and firmware to develop sensor-less motor-control applications. The STM32 employs an ARM Cortex-M3 core to address the requirements of cost-sensitive home-appliance and industrial applications. A complete sensor-less vector-control algorithm for a three-phase brushless permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) executes in less than 25 µs using less than 30% of the CPU’s resources for most applications. Code size for the PMSM is less than 16 KB. The hardware platform is viable for both PMSMs and AC-induction motors operating at voltages up to 48V. The kit includes schematics and allows real-time control and monitoring via an on-board color LCD and joystick, or standalone operation using on-board push buttons and trimmers. Other features include a Segger J-Link USB-powered JTAG emulator, flash programming and real-time debugging capabilities, a debugger, and a programmer. Available now, price for the STM3210B-MCKIT is $1,129 including a 24V DC PMSM. STMICROELECTRONICS, Lexington, MA. (888) 787-3550.
