Kontron had a plethora of announcements and products at Boston ESC as well as future looking announcements such as nanoETXexpress, a small form factor module compatible with ETX Express. It will be ideal for high performance applications in a small form factor. Its high end graphics make it ideal for a wide range of embedded applications such as the medical imaging applications. A set of Kontron ETXexpress products were on display as well including the $800 ETXexpress-MC. This module can handle a 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. It uses Intel’s integrated GMA X3100 Graphics with 24-bit LVDS support. The module has 5 PCI Express Lanes, 8 USB 2.0 ports and 3 Serial-ATA interfaces. There is Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2 support on-board. The module operates on voltages from 8.4V-18V. Some of the other announcements included board related products. The KT690/mITX is a Mini-ITX motherboard based on AMD S1 socket processors such as the low power Turion and Sempron. The latter draws only 25W. As with most Mini-ITX motherboards it has a single PCI slots, a pair of serial ports, 7.1ch HDA sound as well as VGA and DVI video outputs supporting dual flat panels. Composite video is an option. There is the usual complement of peripheral ports including a parallel port plus 8 GPIO pins. Some more useful enhancements include a PCI-Express x8 interface, a mini PCI-Express connector socket, four SATA SATA150/300 ports with RAID 0/1/10 support, a single ATA133 interface, 10 USB 2.0, a Compact Flash socket and a pair of Gbit Ethernet ports. The board can handle up to 32 Gbytes of DDR2 SO-DIMM memory. A TPM is optional. Also introduced at the show was the Kontron CP6001, a 6U CompactPCI PICMG 2.16 compliant board with three rugged levels. It can handl Intel Core Duo and Core2 Duo processors. The CP6001 peripheral interfaces include 3 Gbit Ethernet ports, 4 SATA ports with RAID 0/1/5/10 functionality, 6 USB 2.0 ports, and 2 serial ports. The video interface can drive VGA or DVI displays. A PMC slot or an 2.5 inch SATA hard drive can be added to the board. The board can also handle up to 8Gbytes of USB or 2Gbytes soldered flash. Related Links Kontron
