LED Lamps Snap Directly Into PCBs, Eliminating Need For Sockets

Through use of an unique twist-n-lock base, this new line of LED lamps can be easily installed into pc boards having a complementary cut-out and contact traces that match the lampÕs contacts. No sockets are needed. As a result, OEMs no longer have to produce different variations of a board to accommodate different combinations of LEDs. Instead, they can develop just one board design and populate it at the last minute with whatever combination of LEDs an application calls for. The twist-n-lock LED lamps also make it possible to easily upgrade designs presently using incandescent lamps. The new LED lamps are available with InGaN or AlInGaP chips and in sizes ranging from T-3 To T-5. They also can be ordered in virtually any intensity and color, including red, orange, yellow, green, blue and white; bicolored LEDs are also available. And a resistor can be integrated into the units for directly connecting them to fixed voltages up to 12 Vdc. Depending on style, color, intensity and options, pricing ranges from $0.25 to $1.80 each/100K. LUMEX INC., Sales Dept., Palatine, IL. (800) 278-5666.
