Low-Cost LNA/Mixer Offers High Performance

March 1, 2000

Combining a low noise amplifier (LNA) and mixer, the RF2444 radio-frequency IC offers +10 dB and +25 dB gain settings and a noise figure of 2.3 dB. The mixer's buffered input for the local oscillator offers a conversion power gain of 18 dB. Mixer outputs can be disabled to allow the transmit side to share the IF saw filter. IF frequency range is 10 to 500 MHz. Designed for the 2.4- to 2.5-GHz ISM band, the IC operates from a 2.7 to 3.6 vdc power supply and consumes 20 mA. Onboard standby and power down modes are provided. Applications include wireless LANs, modems and portable battery operated equipment. Supplied in a small 16-pin SSOP package, price is $2.17 each/10000.
