Mini Card-Edge Connectors Serve Micro Memory Cards

May 1, 1999

With a double row of beryllium-copper contacts on 1-mm pitch, the MEC1 Series Mini-Edge Card connectors are said to provide an excellent solution for high-density card interfaces. Typical applications include mini-daughtercard connections, micro data or memory cards and notebook CPU upgrade cards. These sockets come in seven standard sizes with as few as five contacts per side and as many as 68 contacts per side for a total of 136 possible I/Os in less than 1 square inch of board area. Sockets are polarized to provide error-free mating, or smaller sizes with up to 30 contacts per side can be ordered without polarization to maximize I/O density.
