Compliant with Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0 specifications, which support data transmission speeds of up to 480 Mbps, the mini-B USB connectors occupy only about one-eighth the space of standard USB-B interconnects, making them strong contenders for use in portable products, such as digital cameras, cell phones, and PDAs.
The series of USB interconnects includes through-hole and SMT receptacles, both having an above-board height of just 3.95 mm. They also have four wide solder tabs to secure them to pc boards and are available with cover tape for picking-and-placing. Cable plugs in standard lengths of 1.0 meter in a mini-B-to-USB-A are also available.
The 30V, 1.0A USB connector also features five circuits, with one circuit reserved for future use, metal shielding and grounding fingers for EMI protection, a lifetime rating of 5,000 mating cycles, and a detent lock for secure matings. Price of mini-B USB receptacles is $0.55 each/100K.
