Powered by an Intel Mobile Pentium III operating at up to 700 MHz, the CP604 CompactPCI single-board computer (SBC) is said to draw 30% less power than FCPGA equivalents and to be ideal for use in harsh environments. Up to 1 GB of direct-soldered SDRAM and operation over an extended temperature range (-40°C to 85°C at 400 MHz) with passive cooling further enhance CP604’s performance and ruggedness. Available in both System and Peripheral Master versions, the low-power 6U cPCI SBC supports hot-swapping, comes with an Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI), and packs an on-board hard drive, a rear I/O PMC socket, 2 Fast Ethernet ports, 4 serial channels, and a VGA-CRT socket on the front panel. The SBC also supports RackNET (for TCP/IP backplane transfers), Windows and Embedded NT, WIN2000, VxWorks, and Linux. Pricing for a 400-MHz CP604 with 256 MB of SDRAM starts at $2,373.
