Modular Jacks Boast Of Signal Reliability

March 1, 2002

Made in both RJ-11 and RJ-45 configurations, these mini-PCI compliant, inverted right-angle modular jacks (modjacks) mount to a 1-mm pct board. Available with or without light pipes in shielded and unshielded versions, the jacks employ a plug latch on top for mating and disengaging. The modjacks comply with FCC gold-plating requirements, intermate with most FCC 68 modular plugs, and are UL and CSA approved. The short leads of the interconnect's bottom contacts reduce crosstalk, as well as the antenna effect, minimizing the modjack's susceptability to radiated interference carried across transmission lines. A shielded version with light pipes in quantities of 25,000 costs $924/m. MOLEX INC., Lisle, IL. (800) 786-6539.
