Designed to reduce design time in DSP and microprocessor applications, the 1.5A PT5520 and the 3A PT5500 power modules are available with adjustable output voltages from 3.6V to 1V and can operate from either a 5V or 3.3V input. The modules seamlessly interface TMS320C5000TM and TMS320C6000TM DSP platforms and are suited for use in servers, workstations and networking applications. They use a synchronous buck topology to achieve efficiencies as high as 92% over an operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. Available in the company's space-saving Excalibur package with a horizontal mounting profile of 7.9 mm, the modules meet the 8-mm maximum height requirement for use with narrow board pitches. Additional features include short-circuit protection, lossless current limit, output inhibit (on/off), soft start, and adjustable Vout ±10%. At full load, the devices can operate at 85°C with 200 LFM airflow. Pricing for the PT5500 is $10.45 and for the PT5520 is $9.45, each/1,000, with delivery times of 10 to 12 weeks ARO.
