As part of an initiative to alleviate the stress and sweat associated with motor-control designs, the company has announced several new development tools and an on-line resource center. The Motor Control Graphical User Interface software promises to speed design cycles when used in conjunction with development boards for the PIC18Fxx31 family of microcontrollers. As an example, the PICDEM MC allows users to create both ac-induction motor and brushless-dc control applications. In addition, an on-line motor-control design center promises a wealth of information such as design flow charts, application notes, reference designs, and other relevant documentation. The Motor Control Graphical User Interface is available now at no cost via download from the company's web site (see below), while the PICDEM MC development board (DM183011) is priced at $299.
