Combining a 350 MHz PowerPC 755 RISC processor with 1 MB SSRAM L2 cache, the WED3C7558M multi-chip package is said to be ideal for embedded control applications where density and performance are a priority. The PowerPC along with two 175-MHz 128K x 36 synchronous pipeline SRAMs are flip-chip attached on a 255 CBGA or optional CCGA (Ceramic Column Grid Array). According to the company, the combination of the processor and SSRAM on a single interposer results in a 60% pc board space savings compared to discrete approaches.
