The final piece of its distribution plan was put into place when Newport Components Inc., Raleigh, NC, a manufacturer of sub-5W, board-mounting dc/dc converters, inductors and transformers for power-related applications, named Newark Electronics, Chicago, IL, an electronic components catalog distributor. Serving to complete Newport's U.S.-based distribution network, the deal builds on the success of a 10-year worldwide relationship between Newport and Newark's parent company, Premier Farnell plc. Under terms of the North American agreement, Newark will hold inventory of a large number of Newport product lines ranging from miniature and surface-mount sub-5W devices to what's claimed as the world's smallest 15W dc/dc converters. All major lines will have a listing in the Newark catalog.
