Over-Voltage Controllers Integrate nFET

Oct. 8, 2008
The MAX4943, MAX4946, and MAX4949 over-voltage protection controllers integrate a nFET switch to provide protection up to +28V with over-voltage trip levels from 4.56V to 8.9V and under-voltage trip levels from 2.45V to 4.15V. Integrating the nFET

The MAX4943, MAX4946, and MAX4949 over-voltage protection controllers integrate a nFET switch to provide protection up to +28V with over-voltage trip levels from 4.56V to 8.9V and under-voltage trip levels from 2.45V to 4.15V. Integrating the nFET switch reportedly reduces overall external-component counts and requisite board space. Additional controller features include a 1.7A current-limiting function providing short-circuit protection, a FLAG signal to notify the processor to an over- or under-voltage fault condition, thermal-shutdown protection, ±15 kV ESD protection, and a 30-ms startup delay/retry time. Available in an 8-pin, 2 mm x 2 mm microDFN package with an operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C, prices start at $1.14 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA.
