PCI Plug-In Power Supply Offers High-Efficiency Cooling
The PCI350 plug-in power supply functions for demanding CompactPCI applications. The device utilizes a heat-exchanger design to avoid over-temperature problems at the full-rated load of 350 W.

The device's bonded, folded-fin heat exchanger is external. This configuration allows for unimpeded air flow. The PCI350 runs cooler and avoids over-temperature conditions that shut down the system. This is achieved with the industry-standard 15 cfm/400 lfm of forced air through the unit's cooling fans. The 3.3- and 5-V outputs can be simultaneously loaded to their maximum current ratings. The 3.3-, 5-, and 12-V outputs utilize high-density dc-dc modules available in a number of configurations.

The PCI350 meets the PICMG CompactPCI specification. This includes n+1 redundancy and hot-swap capability. All input and output connections are through the backplane. LEDs on the front panel indicate INPUT OK (green) and FAULT (red) conditions. An operating-temperature range of −20°C to 50°C is standard.

Card Guides Provide Grounding Retention In Vibration Applications
The Grip-O-Gide Deep Channel Conductive Insert card guides feature a 0.200-in. slot depth for improved board retention in high-vibration and shock conditions. A stainless steel, 0.006-in. thick channel insert provides full-time earth grounding and eliminates potentially critical electrostatic discharge (ESD).

The devices are available in 2.5-, 4.5-, 6-, and 8-in. lengths with slot widths of 0.0625, 0.09375, and 0.125 in. The card guides are manufactured with UL 94V-0 rated material, including glass-filled Type 6 nylon. They are easily installed with bifurcated mounts integrally molded into the base of the guides. Double-ended funnel entry ramps enable multiple guide use for longer boards. The Grip-O-Gides can accommodate virtually any industrial-size pc-board requirement.

Available now, the device costs $0.80 each in production quantities.
