PC/104 Connectors Come With Compliant Pins And Allow For Fast Insertion

Aug. 1, 1999

The firm’s PC/104 connectors are now available in pressfit, long- or short-tail versions. They allow for fast, simple insertion into finished boards without the risk that can be encountered by solderable types of the 104-pin connector, such as uneven solder flow or contamination to the connectors’ gold tails. The new pressfits are inserted into the board’s through-holes with a flat rock tool and a bottom support fixture mounted on a hand press. The entire press-in process is said to take less than five seconds. The pressfit connectors can also be removed from the board by pressing them in a reverse process.
