PC/104 Module Packs Ethernet Link And Flash Storage

July 1, 1999

Combining two key functions on one board, the EPM-NET-100 is a PC/104-Plus form-factor module that provides both a 10/100 Ethernet interface and up to 144 Mbytes of DiskOnChip flash memory for program and data storage. The module enables PC/104-Plus systems to be compatible with 10-Mbps Ethernet networks now and also to be prepared when the network is upgraded to 100-Mbps data rates. The auto-sensing interface switches to match the hub speed automatically. On the board is AMD’s third-generation PCnet-FAST III Fast Ethernet controller, which features a 32-bit PCI bus master interface and 12 kbytes of internal SRAM for communications buffering. An on-board, 32-pin DiskOnChip site supports from 4 to 144 Mbytes of M-Systems’ flash products.
