Embedded Systems Conference, San Jose, CA. – In another incarnation, the Cougar PC/104+ SBC relies on an AMD LX800 that promises very low power consumption without sacrificing performance and enables fanless operation over a temperature range from -40° to +85°C. The processor delivers 800-MHz Celeron equivalent performance while drawing less than 5 W. Standard on-board features include 256 MB of soldered-on SDRAM, dual 10/100 Ethernet, four USB 2.0 ports, IDE interface, three COM ports, and a CompactFlash socket. Other features include SVGA and LVDS flat-panel support with MMX and 3DNow plus support for both ISA and PCI add-on modules. Additionally, the Cougar is compatible with Windows CE/XP/XPe, QNX, VxWorks, Linux, and other real-time operating systems. Pricing is around $795 in OEM quantities.
