Announced as the industry's first triple-port PCI-to-PCI bridge targeted at I/O intensive performance systems, the PI7C7100 is said to be able to boost overall system bandwidth. It is said to integrate a PCI switch architecture that enables direct interconnect between its three 32-bit PCI bus segments, resulting in an increase in overall system data throughput. The device may be used in motherboards or add-in cards for a variety of networking and telecomm applications. Three PCI ports operate at 32-bits at 33 MHz and adhere to the PCI Local Bus 2.1 and PCI-to-PCI bridge 1.0 specifications. Packaged in a 256-pin plastic BGA, pricing is $28 each/5,000.
