PMIC Addresses LCD TV Power Requirements

Jan. 25, 2010
the MAX17113 PMIC integrates buck/boost regulators, adjustable positive/negative charge-pump regulators, a p-channel MOSFET switch, LCD source drivers, gate drivers, and panel logic
Ready to power up LCD TV panels, the MAX17113 PMIC integrates buck/boost regulators, adjustable positive/negative charge-pump regulators, a p-channel MOSFET switch, LCD source drivers, gate drivers, and panel logic. The boost/buck regulators have a selectable 450-kHz or 600-kHz switching frequency and feature internal 20V power MOSFETs. The boost regulator delivers output voltages up to 20V from an 8V to 16.5V input while achieving more than 85% efficiency. The buck regulator has an adjustable 1.5V to 5V output. Charge-pump regulators provide the TFT gate-driver supply voltage and a pFET is on board for AVdd sequencing, eliminating the need a pFET in series with the input supply. Available in a 40-pin TQFN measuring 5 mm x 5 mm, price for the MAX17113 starts at $1.30 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
