Power Inductors Boast Of Industry’s Highest Current Ratings

Dec. 1, 2002

With the help of SMP 1812 series of power inductors, engineers reportedly can design circuitry with higher current handling capability and reduced board space. The series specifically targets dc/dc converters and power supplies used in distributed power applications in medical diagnostic, industrial process control, and test and measurement equipment. The new, high efficiency, surface-mount power inductors are said to deliver the highest current rating of any inductor currently available in its package design. The SMP 1812 series has an inductance from one to 330 µH, current ratings from 2,018 to 124 mA, and a saturation current rating from 2,500 to 129 mA. An RF version and custom designs are also available. Typical pricing is $0.29 each in production quantities. GOWANDA ELECTRONICS, Gowanda, NY. (716) 532-2234.
