Detailed as the industry's smallest power system on chip (PSoC), as well as the fastest synchronous buck converter, the EN5330 measures just over 100 mm² and 2.2 mm high in a DFN TSSOP. Employing a minimum of three external components, an entire dc/dc converter occupies as little as 135 mm² of single-sided or 102 mm² of double-sided board space. The device accepts input voltages from 2.375V to 6.5V and delivers an output power up to 10W. Output voltage is VID pin selectable with options for seven voltages from 0.8V to 3.3V, and a resistor-divider setting allows for a continuous set-point range from 0.8V to VIN. Other features include over-current, short-circuit, over-voltage, and under-voltage protection plus thermal shutdown. Available in standard and lead-free packages, price is $4.95 each/1,000.
