Targeting users who need to develop embedded processing applications that require network connectivity, the ColdFire evaluation board provides all the necessary hardware and firmware needed to implement a networked interface using the Motorola MCF5282 processor. These include all physical layer (PHY) devices, memory, and the capability for external expansion for any bridging application that requires 10/100 Ethernet, UARTs, CAN interface, QSPI, analog inputs, and/or memory-mapped peripherals. Features include the MCF5282 ColdFire processor, a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet interface, two RS-232 ports, a queued serial peripheral interface (QSPI) port, CAN interface, 16 MB of SDRAM (not populated), 8 MB FLASH (not populated), expansion AvBus connector, an 8-channel, 10-bit queued a/d converter, and a BDM/JTAG connector. The AvBus expansion connector allows for user defined add-on hardware, or can be utilized with over 20 compatible evaluation and development boards from Avnet Design Services. These boards can be mixed and matched to provide a variety of additional hardware and firmware capability from PCI and PCI-X connectivity, RapidIO, memory and communications and video/audio functions.Target applications for the Motorola MCF5282 Evaluation Kit include industrial control, serial protocol bridges, and embedded Internet appliances.
