The ZL50130 is billed as the first pseudo-wire processor for data services based on the latest Internet Protocol and Ethernet draft standard. The chip is a dedicated 28-link Ethernet pseudo-wire processor that converts Ethernet frames, including maximum-size frames, into IP or MPLS packets and transports them through a packet-switched network over pseudo-wires for reconstruction at the destination point. The processor accommodates a wide range of network edge equipment, including switches, routers and integrated access devices. When paired with the company's Ethernet switches, multiple inputs can be combined with rate control. Development support is by way of a reference design and evaluation board.
