Poised for portable applications, the SMB119 multi-output, programmable power manager integrates seven precision programmable regulators and a wide range of digital power control functions. The device packs three synchronous step-down converters, two step-up converters, one configurable step-up or step-down converter, and one low-dropout linear regulator. Also on board is a programmable system supervisor that monitors all channels for under-voltage and over-voltage events. Users select how the chip should react under abnormal conditions. Other features include a switching frequency of 1 MHz, conversion efficiency up to 95%, a shutdown mode that reduces current consumption to 0.1 mA, automatic PWM/PFM operation with a PWM-override mode, short-circuit current limiting, and thermal-protection circuits. Available in a RoHS-compliant, 48-pad QFN package measuring 7 mm x 7 mm, price is $3.74 each/10,000. SUMMIT MICROELECTRONICS, Sunnyvale, CA. (408) 523-1000.
