PWM Controller Provides VID Programmable Outputs

Sept. 1, 2002

The MAX5037 dual-phase PWM controller includes an on-board, five-bit d/a converter that is compliant with Intel’s VRM 9.0 specification, offering VID programmable outputs with ±0.8% accuracy over its rated operating temperature range of -40_C to +85_C. An internal voltage regulator allows operation from a 5V, 12V, or 24V power bus and integrated 4A MOSFET drivers allow over 60A of output current. Multiple MAX5037 controller modules can be paralleled to achieve higher output currents in units of 60A per module. The controller’s ±5% accurate internal oscillator frequency is pin selectable at 250 kHz or 500 kHz per phase, which results in a 500 kHz or 1 MHz effective switching frequency at the output. Available in a 44-pin MQFP or 44-pin QFN package, prices start at $2.66 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
