For rugged, high-performance apps, FibreXtreme SL100/SL240 quad-channel serial front panel data port (SFPDP) cards exploit Altera’s Stratix II GX FPGAs to deliver sustained data rates up to 247 MB/s on four channels. In PCI or XMC formats, the cards suit digital-signal processing, radar and sonar, medical imaging, range, and telemetry applications. They support a 2.5-GHz serial data link via the VITA 17.1-2003 protocol, and on-board DMA engines handle single transactions up to 64 MB. With support for 2.5 Gb/s transmission rates, 1 Gb/s on the SL100 and 2.5 Gb/s on the SL240, distance between subsystems can range up to 50 km. Three ruggedization levels are available: L100, L200, and conduction cooled. Software support includes drivers for standard operating systems including Windows NT 4.0/2000/XP, VxWorks, and Linux.
