More amperage at lower voltages is the promise of a new quarter-brick, 1.45Ó x 2.3Ó footprint dc/dc converter. The QTA converter, a member of the PowerQor Tera series of quarter-brick converters, can deliver up to 40A of total current at 2.5V down to 1.2V and 35A at 3.3V without the use of a heatsink. The low-profile (0.43Ó) device has a nominal input voltage of 48V, with an input voltage range of 35V to 75V, and meets input voltage transient requirements up to 100V for 100 ms.Using synchronous rectification, the QTA converter also offers a full load efficiency of 82% at 1.2V (87% at half-load) and 90.5% at 3.3V (92% at half-load). In addition, the power source is designed to minimize noise, offering an output voltage ripple of only 6 mVRMS, and to provide excellent derating performance, delivering a 40A load at 55¡C and 300 LFM of airflow. The converter also includes a number of control andprotection features.Initially, the Òopen boardÓ converter is being offered at output voltages of 1.2V and 3.3V with 1.5V, 1.8V and 2.5V models to be released at a later date. The 1.2V and 3.3V QTA Tera quarter-brick converters are priced at $96 each/1,000. For more details, contact SYNQOR, Hudson, MA. (888) 567-9596.
