EMBEDDED SYSTEMS CONFERENCE, San Jose, CA. – Embarking as the latest member of the H8S series, the H8S/2472F is the company's first 16-bit microcontroller (MCU) to integrate an Ethernet controller. The 34-MHz device with flash memory is optimized for use in low-end servers, communications equipment, and building automation systems. In addition to the Ethernet controller, it offers a comprehensive set of peripheral functions including a USB port, I2C bus, synchronous serial communication unit, and a low-pin-count bus for connection to a variety of peripheral systems. The device also saves board space, measuring 13 mm x 13 mm in a 176-pin BGA package. Other on-chip functions include an eight-channel 10-bit a/d converter, 16-channel event counter, data transfer controller, bus-state controller, 8-bit and 16-bit timers, and a watchdog timer. The 3.3V device employs a H8S/2600 CPU core with a built-in multiply-accumulate function plus 512 KB of flash memory and 40 KB of RAM. Sample price is $15 each.
