RF Mixer Sets Linearity Benchmark

Primed for up- and down-conversion applications over a frequency range to 3 GHz, the ADL5350 RF mixer specifies an input linearity of 26 dBm, measured at the input third-order intercept or IIP3. It also specifies an input compression point of 17 dBm at 900 MHz and a noise figure of -6 dB. Compared to passive mixers requiring a high LO drive level, the device integrates a LO buffer amplifier, eliminating the need for an external LO driver. Addressing power concerns, it operates from a 3V supply while consuming 16 mA of current. Available in a 3 mm x 2 mm LFCSP, price is $2.35 each/1,000. An evaluation board is also available.
