SAN-Ready Single-Board Computers Come To Embedded Mart

Feb. 1, 2000

This series of storage area network (SAN)-ready single-board computers couple the firm's Pentium II/II-based VME and CompactPCI boards with its QLogic technology-based Fibre Channel host adapters to provide users with preconfigured and pretested SAN-ready computer boards that support Linux, Windows NT, VxWorks, Solaris and other popular operating systems. The adapters comply with ANSI SCSI standards for Class 2 and 3 service and support: 200-Mbyte/s full-duplex communications in all Fibre Channel topologies (100 Mbytes/s simultaneous TX/RX); F-PORT and FL-PORT fabric login; Fibre Channel protocol SCSI (FCP-SCSI) and Fibre Channel IP protocols concurrently; TCP and UDP IP services; and more. The cPCI line supports both system-slot (VMICPCI-5652) and peripheral-slot (VMICPCI-5653) SBCs, with the latter also hot swap-ready per PICMG 2.1 Rev. 1.0.
