Promising to simplify wiring requirements in embedded systems, the F218 3U, cPCI PowerPC-based slave single-board computer (SBC) serves as an Ethernet diagnosis buffer. Two Ethernet controllers within the FPGA enable the host to view it as an Ethernet device, similar to front connection of two SBCs via Ethernet cable. The core processor speed is up to 266 MHz. The F218 features up to 256 MB of soldered DDR2 SDRAM with a bus frequency of 133 MHz, 16 MB of flash memory, an optional 1 MB of non-volatile FRAM, and an operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C. OS support includes VxWorks and Linux as standard with QNX available upon request. Single-unit pricing for the F218 is $940. MEN MICRO INC., Ambler, PA. (215) 542-9575.
