By integrating a 1.7-GHz Pentium M processor, 1 GB of DDR RAM, 1 GB of cache and 802.11b wireless networking capabilities on a board measuring just 6.5" x 4" x 1.8", the company says it has created a embedded computing module (ECM) that is small enough to be incorporated into wearable products, yet, with MIL-STD certified packaging, is sufficiently rugged for use in military and harsh industrial environments. The ECM has a low EMI design that is reportedly resistant to water, shock, vibration, temperature, and humidity. The self-contained, small form-factor embedded PC also packs a rugged, removable 40-60 GB hard drive and a single docking connector for managing all I/O devices, including a full PCI bus. Custom I/O and docking solutions for the EMC are also available. For more details, contact Brian Malmberg at KONTRON MOBILE COMPUTING INC., Eden Prairie, MN. (888) 343-5396.
