Said to be the lowest profile, fully self-contained sensor of its kind, the SonaSwitch Mini S/A is designed for machine, automotive, robotics, level sensing, people detection, and similar applications. A smart ultrasonic sensor, the 1.7"-diameter device is targeted at OEMs and is available in two versions: Mini-S and Mini-A. The former has two NPN open-collector switched outputs, while the latter has one 0 to 5 or 0 to 10 vdc linear output. The circuit board behind the transducer is completely self-contained. It includes an 8-bit microcontroller and all the circuitry required for adjustable outputs over the entire operating range. The device weighs just 0.6 oz. and has a depth of just 0.95". Other key features include operation at 8 to 16 vdc with a maximum of 30 mA current, 6" to 10’ range, and astable or triggered operation. Prices: Mini-S, $51.50; Mini-A, $56.50 for up to nine units. Quantity discounts are available.
